Alyssa Hounshell, MD

Growing up in Breathitt County, I always knew how special it was to call these mountains home. I’m grateful to return to the community that raised me and care for the children and families who make Appalachia so special. I earned my doctoral degree in pediatrics from the University of Louisville, and I’m proud to raise my own child here while serving the children of my community.

As a proud member of the ARH Care Network, I know there is no greater responsibility than caring for someone’s child. As a parent myself, I understand the love, trust and peace of mind that families want when choosing a pediatrician. My goal is to provide compassionate, personalized care and build lasting relationships with the families I serve. Caring for the children of Appalachia isn’t just my profession—it’s an honor and a privilege to care for the community I call home.
