Whitesburg ARH Hospital was established in 1956 as one of the nine original Miners Memorial Hospital Association facilities. Serving the residents of Letcher, Knott, Harlan and Perry counties in Kentucky, the 90-bed facility also operates two clinics and one pharmacy. Among the hospital’s services are cardiology, oncology, surgical services, aquatic therapy, rehabilitation, obstetrics and sleep care. Additionally, the hospital offers skilled nursing “swing beds,” which provide an opportunity for patients to transition from observation to acute care to extended-stay post-acute care without changing rooms. Skilled nursing through swing bed care typically lasts 7 to 21 days, as the goal is to prepare patients for a return home. Whitesburg ARH is a Level IV Trauma Center. Whitesburg ARH OB Department has been recognized by the Kentucky Perinatal Quality Collaborative (KyPQC) for its ongoing excellence in maternal and infant health—marking its third consecutive year receiving this honor.
